Creating and restoring database backups

Taking backups of your databases is critical and should be done at least once per week.

Database Backups using Backup Wizard

  • Login to cPanel
  • Click Backup Wizard
  • Click Backup
  • Click MySQL Databases
  • Click on each Database you want to backup

You should now be downloading one or more database backups which can be used to restore the data at that point.

Backing up Databases via phpMyAdmin

  • Login to cPanel
  • Click phpMyAdmin
  • On the left column select the database you wish to backup
  • Click the Export tab at the top on the right
  • Select the zipped option under the Save as File header at the bottom
  • Click Go

Restoring Backups using Backup Wizard

  • Login to cPanel
  • Click on Backup Wizard
  • Click Restore
  • Click MySQL Databases
  • Click Choose and find the backup file for the database on your computer or removable media
  • Click Upload

Remain patient and the upload will complete, the larger the backup, the longer the upload and restoration.

Restoring Backups using phpMyAdmin

  • Login to cPanel
  • Click on phpMyAdmin
  • On the left column select the database you will be restoring
  • Click the Import tab at the top on the right
  • Click on Choose and locate the backup file on your computer or removable media
  • Click Go

You should now be in the process of uploading your MySQL database backup, please note the larger the backup file, the longer the upload and restoration process.
